Non-Contacting Face Seals

Non-contacting face seals have seen an increase of usage since it was invented in 1968.

The spiral grooves of the mating ring caused a layer of hydrodynamic film to form during the operation of the seal, thus generate a minute gap between the primary seal surface while keep virtually no leakage.

The fact that the primary seal surface rings are not in contact with each other greatly reduced the wear rate of the surface. Naturally, this kind of seals are widely accepted for various usage in very high speed systems in oil refineries, off-shore applications, petrochemical and gas processing plants.
